Mitch Paone is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of DIA Studio, founded with Managing Director Meg Donohoe. Based in Chamonix, France, DIA builds behavior-based identity systems.

The studio introduced the term Kinetic Identity in 2015 to describe identity systems built through time as their primary material. Clients include Squarespace, Balenciaga, Mailchimp, Pinterest, Nike, Saint Laurent, Google, and Apple.

Paone is also the Co-Founder and type designer behind MNKY Type, a foundry offering retail and custom fonts used by Peloton Interactive, Diesel, and The New York Times Magazine. He has authored fourteen typeface families.

Alongside his studio practice, Paone teaches and lectures in design. He has taught at HEAD Genève and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), and is a recurring guest lecturer at ECAL. He served as the inaugural resident professor at the La Becque x ECAL Residency in Switzerland. Over the past decade he has delivered more than one hundred lectures and workshops across twenty-five countries, with appearances at ZHdK, Walker Art Center, AGI Open, OFFF Festival, US BY NIGHT, and the Chaumont Biennale de Design Graphique.

Before founding DIA, Paone worked as a jazz pianist and composer, recording with his group Non-Static and appearing at the 2008 Winter Jazz Festival in New York.

Paone became a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale in 2019.
